The History of Poker Poker dates back to the 1600's perhaps further. It has been an American past-time since the early 1800's played mostly in New Orleans and the Wild West. It was owned mostly by cheats, hustlers, outlaws and knife-makers. These professional gamblers viewed themselves as entrepreneurial businessmen who would take advantage of America's growing obsession with gambling. As time went on, the game of Poker evolved, adding wild cards and draws, thus enabling gamblers many more opportunities to bluff. Online poker has now manifested into an almost cult-like activity, enjoyed by everyone around the world, from the stay-at-home house wife to the handyman to the retired Chiropractor (Joseph Hachem - 2005 World Series of Poker Champion). The once professional poker cheat is now a celebrity-status professional poker player who is admired today just as much as a professional athlete or movie star! With the ease of depositing and withdrawing over the internet and playing in online poker rooms, we are in a new era that makes playing online poker easy and fun. Anybody and everybody can enjoy this favorite American game of poker and live the American Dream!
