David Pham

Born on February 10, 1967, David Pham is an American-Vietnamese professional poker player that has become very well known in the inner circle of professional poker players. It's interesting to watch someone such as Pham because such a success, as he had very meager beginnings, escaping Vietnam for America at the age of just 17 on a boat of 145 people, 99 of whom did not make the journey alive.

Pham is the cousin of another well known poker player, Men Nguyen. Pham took poker lessons from Nguyen while he worked at his cleaning business and eventually would become quite active in the tournament circuit. In 2000, Pham was named as the Player of the Year by Card Player. Pham would celebrate his first World Series of Poker bracelet in 2001 when was involved in the $2,000 S.H.O.E. event. The same year he also finished in the money in the no limit hold'em event. Pham celebrated his second bracelet in 2006 in the $2,000 no limit hold'em shootout event.

Since the World Poker tour started, Pham has been seated at four of the final tables, but has yet to win the event. Pham enjoys living these days, as an American citizen in Bell Gardens, California where he has four children. David Pham is known to have a total live tournament earnings of more than $4.7 million. There is no doubt about the fact that David Pham's success has changed his life in big ways since he first immigrated to America when he was just 17 years of age.
