Eric Seidel

Eric Seidel, an unassuming and inconspicuous poker player, lets his skill shine at the tables. A native of New York, Seidel has managed to win a total of six World Series Bracelets accompanied by a sizeable bankroll to boot. A Backgammon lover as well as an avid fan of poker, Eric Seidel's all-business non-flamboyant style is a carry over of his career as a Wall Street stock broker.

Seidel moved from New York to California and now resides in Las Vegas where his favorite pastime became a professional career. Poker was merely a pastime for Seidel until he moved to Vegas and was drawn in to the art of professional poker and all of its trappings. In 1988, Eric Seidel finished out the World Series of Poker Main Event in second place: falling short of the win to the world-renowned professional poker player Johnny Chan. Seidel's second place win propelled his professional poker career forward: By 2003 Seidel won six World Series of Poker Gold bracelets; in '99, he finished out the $10,000 Main Event in fourth. He also has numerous other first place finishes.

The key to Eric Seidel's playing style is his stringent analytical ability: Seidel plays a patient hand, waiting for the other players to leave him an opening to make his move. Though Seidel is thought of as an intense player-behind Seidel's facade is a shrewd sense of the game and a tremendous amount of patience. Clearly, Seidel holds the formula for card playing success.

The World Series of Poker, as well as the Bellagio mark Seidel as one of the biggest winners ever. Since Seidel's poker playing strategies have proved to be such a profitable endeavor, he is now a full time professional poker player, having cast aside his stock broker days. Further, never forgetting his roots, Seidel remains affable at the tables-logic rules the day when Seidel holds the cards. Nevertheless, other players know not to mistake Seidel's affability for complacency-Seidel stands vigilant at the poker tables, waiting for the right moment to strike.

Of course, Seidel is using some of his big winnings to "gamble" on the stock market and if his stock market strategies are anything like his poker playing skill, he is definitely a winner in the stock market. Further, Seidel doesn't always rely on his stern approach and his life is fairly laid back. Along with his love for Backgammon and poker, Seidel adores tennis and he possesses a liking for music.
