Free Poker Tournament

Free-Roll Poker Tournament

The term "free poker tournament" sounds at first a little misleading, even contradictory. First of all, poker means money and a poker tournament means lots of it. Secondly, what would the purpose of a poker tournament be if the money element were removed? Luckily, upon closer examination neither of these is the case. A free poker tournament is just that, free. Furthermore, in most free poker tournaments found online the money has not been removed, there is just no entry fee. In other words, you do not pay to play at a table in the tournament and compete with the other card cutters for the prize pot at the end.

That said, it should be noted that free poker tournaments, of which there are countless varieties online to be found, typically do not offer enormous rewards. So do not expect victory in a free poker tournament to significantly enlarge your wallet. Some tournaments offer prizes of around $500 to the winner, but many offer less. Although this is a modest reward compared to most pay to play tournaments, it is for a free poker tournament a generous sum. Consider it this way. With no enrollment cost you lose very little should you be eliminated as early as the first few rounds.

A free poker tournament is then not so much a means to a hoard (although if one were good and lucky enough they might amass a small one after a handful of tournaments) rather it is an opportunity for relatively new but serious poker players to test their metal against one another with no more risk than a streak of non-tournament online poker games. In addition to no added risk, there is the potential for more profit in the form of the victory pot. At the very least, after a tournament or two an online poker player will have a very clear idea of where they stand amongst their online poker peers.

While all of these are compelling reasons to try your skills in a free poker tournament, some amount of caution is warranted. Before signing up for a shot at a trophy, read the rules and regulations of every tournament for which you apply. Tournament regulations are often different from one casino, website, or sponsor to the next; sometimes tournaments sponsored by the same organization will have different rules. In other words, always know the tournament's terms. Don't let your wins be spoiled by any unexpected surprises. Good luck and better gambling!
