Online Poker Tells - Common Poker Tells - Poker Tells

Online Poker tells along with common Poker tells are an important part of any Poker game. A Poker tell is an action or habit that gives other players clues about what cards are in your hands. Many Poker tells are subconscious, and the skilled Poker player learns to carefully school their behavior in order to eliminate Poker tells. You may guess that Poker tells are more common in a live game when you can see your opponent, but there are a number of online Poker tells you can learn to watch for. Live Poker rooms in internet casinos are great places to practice spotting Poker tells. With some Poker software, you can use a peripheral advice such as the PlayStation 2 EyeToy camera to link live to opponents-and watch for Poker tells.

How can there be online Poker tells? The answer lies not in viewing your opponents, but in studying their game setup and the speed (or lack of speed) with which they play their hands and place bets. One of the most common and obvious online Poker tells is the in-turn button; the blinking light that represents when a player acts. Generally, the faster a player dashes for the in-turn button, the less they have in their hand. Depending on the first player betting, you can usually tell which players have nothing because they will often immediately check the bet (decline to raise). One way to eliminate this online Poker tell from your playing is to teach yourself to either always pause before checking, or always check immediately. This way, no one will know what you have or don't have.

Another online Poker tell related to in-turn buttons is when the player following one who has checked instantly raises. This can mean they have already determined they have a good hand, and checked the "auto-raise" feature of the game. It is always a good policy to avoid using internet casino auto features when you can-this eliminates many obvious online Poker tells.

Another common online Poker tell is called "The Stall." This usually occurs on the last round of betting in Texas Holdem or Omaha variations. When a player makes a significant pause and then bets rather than folds on the river card, this is an enormous online Poker tell that means the player believes his hand will win. However, you should be cautious in counting on "The Stall" Poker tell, because many online players are aware of it and will use this technique as a reverse stall, or bluff. Online Poker tells can be advantageous, as long as you don't rely entirely on them to win.

Poker tells are far easier to spot in live opponents. Some common Poker tells can be determined by watching an opponent's eyes, which is why many professional Poker players like Chris "Jesus" Ferguson and Phil "Poker Brat" Hellmuth wear sunglasses while they play. Eyes that move around the table are also common Poker tells; a player may be checking to see how many chips he can bet, which often means they're holding a powerful hand. Posture is also a common Poker tell; players with poor hands tend to slump or stoop their shoulders; while a holding player will sit straighter and appear alert. You can learn to recognize common Poker tells that will help your game and improve your chances at winning.
