Event #17 of the 2006 WSOP was huge. 2,891 players entered the $1000 buy-in No-limit Holdem tournament. Payouts went to the top 270 places. Action was quick and fearsome. After day1 they were down to 139 players. Jon Friedburg proved his worthiness by walking away with the WSOP Title, Gold Bracelet and $526,185. John Phan came in second and Humberto Brenes placed 7th.
