The 2005 WSOP Main Event #42 began on July 7th and ran through until July 15th. A record 5,619 people entered the tournament. The buy-in was $10,000 for a prize pool totaling $52,818,610. The top 560 players were in the money. All the players at the final table were guaranteed millionaires. Joseph Hachem from Melbourne, Australia was crowned with the coveted World Championship Title. He won a cool $7,500,000. Runner-up amateur player Steve Dannenman from Severn, MD also put on an incredible performance. Mike 'the mouth' Matusow finished 9th.
