2006 WSOP Event #9 Results and Highlights - No-Limit $5000 Buy-in
On Tuesday, July 4th WSOP event #9 began. This event had a $5000 buy-in and was structured as a No-limit Texas Holdem tournament. 622 players entered the 3 day tournament for a prize pool worth $3,110,000. The payouts went to the top 64 players. The stakes were exceptionally high for this event; Phil Hellmuth Jr. was playing for his 10th WSOP Gold Bracelet. The final two players were Jeff Cabanillas and Phil 'Poker Brat' Hellmuth Jr. On the final hand, Phil went all in with the best hand but Jeff caught a diamond on the river to make a flush. Jeff Cabanillas won his first WSOP Title, the Gold Bracelet and $818,546! Marcel Luske also known as the Flying Dutchman finsihed in a respectable 4th place.
