Johnny 'Orient Express' Chan

Professional Poker player Johnny Chan is affectionately known by the members of the Poker playing community as Johnny "Orient Express" Chan. Born in China, Chan moved to Hong Kong in '62 and later moved to Phoenix Arizona in '68. Just five years later, Chan's family moved to Texas and started several restaurants. Several years after Chan graduated high school he attend the University of Houston and majored in restaurant management. Nevertheless, Chan's life took him in a different direction and he ultimately wound up in Vegas as a professional Poker player.

In '87 and '88, Chan successfully won the World Series of Poker Main Event two consecutive years in a row. Later, in '89, he finished second, losing to Phil "Poker Brat" Hellmuth. Chan would be inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame in 2002 for winning ten World Series Poker titles in all! What's more, Chan has won a total of 10 World Series of Poker Bracelets, a record held only by one other professional Poker player, Doyle Brunson.

Johnny Chan has an affinity for the scent of oranges and he keeps one next to him while he plays. In truth, it is the smoking that goes on at tournaments that truly bothers him and the citrus scent of the oranges helps Chan manage. Himself a former smoker, Chan gave up the habit. Ultimately, the scent of oranges helps Johnny stick to his commitment!

Johnny Chan leads a truly busy lifestyle - one consisting of both work and family. In addition to being a professional Poker player, he owns two fast food franchises and acts as a professional consultant for various game creators and official casinos. Further, Chan dreams big, for one day he plans to run his own casino establishment along with everything else he already engages in, including the act of raising his six children.
